Al Tayer meets Singapore Consul in Dubai
Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), recently received in his office HE Umej Bhatia, Consul-General of the Republic of Singapore in Dubai, in the context of boosting links and continued cooperation with various local, regional and international entities.
During the meeting, the two parties explored means and ways of bolstering their mutual cooperation, exchanging of expertise between the RTA and its counterpart in Singapore as well as Singaporean firms operating in rail, roads and transportation sectors, and reviewing the forthcoming road and infrastructure projects in Dubai.
During the meeting, Al Tayer hailed the Singaporean expertise in upgrading the transport infrastructure, undertaking quality projects featuring state-of-the-art transit systems, and opting for public transport as an ideal choice for the mobility of peoples.
“The RTA has good working relationships with the Singaporean entities and it signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Land Transport Authority in the Republic of Singapore. The MoU calls for the two parties to boost their strategic partnerships, share expertise as regards the international trends of transport activities, and enhance their cooperative and friendly relations,” noted Al Tayer.
The RTA Chairman of the Board and Executive Director briefed the Singaporean Consul-General on the key projects constructed by the RTA, including upgrading the roads network, constructing crossings over the Dubai Creek, and overhauling mass transit systems including the construction of the Dubai Metro, beefing up the public bus fleet, and revamping the marine transit means.
The Singaporean Consul-General in Dubai commended the sweeping development drive witnessed by Dubai in a record time, rendering it a focal point of investors, business leaders and tourists, thanks to the wise leadership and shrewd vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. He also praised the Dubai Metro project which has become an iconic landmark of Dubai city, and contributed to a breakthrough in mass transit systems in the region, not to mention alleviating the traffic congestion.
