I am currently in Dubai visiting relatives and, as well as using Dubai taxis, I have been taking a few trips on the Metro. I wanted to write to Read. while I’m here to share my thoughts and all I can say is wow, I am amazed! I live in London where the underground system has been a major part of the city for over 100 years, yet it’s a service that people abuse on a daily basis, littering stations and spraying graffi ti on trains. Trains are often late and can become jam-packed with people, so much so in fact that I avoid it during peak times and on weekends. The Dubai Metro is one of the cleanest forms of public transport I have ever been on and the costs per trip seem very reasonable compared to what you would pay for the same journey in England.
So far I have used the Metro to get to malls, to visit Old Dubai, meet my cousin at her workplace and even just to head out for dinner. I am here for another three weeks and I plan to take in as many other sights via the Metro as I can while I’m here. Well done Dubai!
