New plates for learn-driving vehicles

The Vehicles Licensing Department at the Licensing Agency of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) will launch new number plates for learn-driving vehicles featuring a unique design pattern with effect from June 17, 2012.

Mohammed Abdul Kareen Nimaat, Director of the RTA’s Vehicles Licensing Department (pictured), said: “This change measures up to our aspirations of delivering best-in-class services to the public in a way compatible with our vision to introduce the highest global specifications that keep pace with our distinguished services and reflect their exclusivity such that these vehicles will stand out from other vehicles. We are also endeavouring to standardise learning vehicles throughout driving institutes and centres across Dubai.

“The conventional shape of driving institutes’ vehicles used to comprise two plates; the first bears the vehicle’s number only, and the other displays the two letters (L ت) i.e. learning driving. We have opted to standardise the plates of these vehicles such that a single plate will be used combining both the vehicle’s number and the two letters.”
