Do you find reasons to be sad and sulky day after day? Chances are you’re probably sabotaging your own happiness. If you truly want success in anything in life, your good habits should outweigh your bad ones. However, most of us may not even be aware of our bad habits. Here we tackle the everyday habits that could be robbing us of our own happiness.
Unless you’re some god or a vampire who sparkles in the sun, you can’t really know what’s going through people’s heads. Most of our thoughts about other people are made-up assumptions of what they’re actually thinking. There’s a big difference between what people say and what you think they’re saying. Although, if you must assume, try assuming that they are thinking the best of you. Although most often than not, they’re probably caught up on thinking about their own insecurities to think about you.
Whenever you worry about everything, you drain your mental energy. Just pick the things that are really worth worrying about and learn to let go of the rest.
Holding on to the past
If you don’t learn to let go of the tragedies and mistakes of the past, you will never fully enjoy the present or the future. Allow yourself to learn how to let go and heal.
A quick road to unhappiness is making situations or other people the cause of your problems. You may not be in control of the actions of others or the awful things that may happen to you, but you always have control over what you do and how you respond to it. Our circumstances don’t determine our happiness, it’s our decisions.
Taking things personally
The world is not out to get you so stop making everything about you. Constantly taking things personally is not only exhausting, it’s also very toxic.
It’s easy to have one too many things to compare ourselves to in this day and age, especially with social media. We may think, we’re not travelling enough or our relationships aren’t as cute as theirs and so on and so forth. However, having what other people have isn’t guaranteed to make us happier, but yearning for it will only make you unhappier.
Lack of gratitude
There are people out there wishing that they had the exact things that you aren’t thankful for, so learn to appreciate the things that you’ve been blessed with.
You don’t always have to be right and sometimes it’s best to let a small disagreement go. There will always be people who will try to throw negativity your way, be the bigger person and don’t add fuel to the flame.
