Reebok will be the official title sponsor of the 2018 Wadi Bih Run, taking place on February 2-2 in Dibba, Oman. With registrations now open, the 26th edition of the race will see over 2,100 runners compete across five race categories, traversing from the Gulf of Oman beach through the Hajjar mountain wadis up to the daunting Wadi Bih.
In a sponsorship deal that will span three years, Reebok will seek to take the notoriously gruelling event to a new level, supporting runners to take on the intimidating desert terrain trails with innovative activations along the race route that will provide maximum motivation when it is needed most.
Speaking on the new sponsorship, Reebok’s Marketing Director for MENA, Woody Chang, said one of the key focuses for the brand was to advance a “strong link between Reebok and the running community”.
“The Wadi Bih Run is the premier event in the region for committed and passionate runners and gives us an opportunity to support and enhance the experience for competitors when they need it most.”
He added: “This is a sponsorship with runners at the very heart and it is our sole ambition to help them push their perceived limits and embrace an active and challenging life. We want to help everyone taking part to hit the trails, power up the hills and go the distance at the 26th edition – and that is exactly what we intend to do.”
The Reebok Wadi Bih Run is one of the highest profile races in the region and will be taking place in Dibba on February 2-3, 2018.
All solo races, including the Zighy 30km, Canyon 50k, Mountain 72km, and Relay Team 50km will take place on February 2. The competitive relay team races, with each group comprised of five runners, will take place across the two days, with the Team 50km taking place on the first day and the Team 72km taking place on the second day, February 3.
Commenting on the race and Reebok’s sponsorship, Wadi Bih Race Director Neil Young said: “The Wadi Bih Run grows in popularity every year and is the ultimate long distance running challenge in the UAE. The addition of Reebok will help us take the event to an even greater level and we can’t wait to work with them to inspire runners from across the region to get out, run and achieve their personal goals.”
“With punishing ascents and stunning scenery, it’s a great physical challenge and a refreshing chance to escape from the city and into the mountains. We urge entrants to register soon to avoid disappointment for what will be a fantastic weekend away.”
