Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has launched a new generation of vehicles’ number plates featuring a new design as well as a new two-code plate to be made available from February 2018 and December 2017 respectively.
The new design of the number plates is clear and easy to read from a distance and features three elements: The word Dubai (brand), number and code.
The RTA will begin replacing existing plates of light vehicles with the new number plates from February 2018. The replacement will be gradual and in lots, according to a yet to be announced time line.
Those vehicle owners who are interested in the new regular number plate bearing the Dubai brand in black colour (see below), will be able to have their existing number plates replaced at cost of Dh35 for short plates and Dh50 for long plates.
Those opting for the new coloured Dubai brand number plate (see above) will have to pay a fee of Dh400.
The first lot of the new dual code number plates will be released in an open auction to be held on December 9 at Westin Hotel (Habtoor City). The auction package includes 10 distinctive single, dual, triple, quadruple and penta digit plates of code AA namely: 7, 10, 12, 100, 333, 786, 1000, 8888, 77777 and 55555.
“This new initiative underlines the RTA’s keenness to satisfy the needs of customers aspiring to own distinctive number plates, especially as the stock of single-code distinctive plates is about to be exhausted,” said Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority.
